What is Worship?

We talk a lot about worship here. But what do we mean?

Worship is more than a Sunday morning gathering. Worship is a way of life. It is engaging with God on his terms and honoring him as God by acknowledging his supreme worth. However, one crucial element to a life of worship is gathering with other Christians on a regular basis to sing, pray, and hear from God through his word, the Bible.

The Bible is central to worship because in it God reveals himself to us and tells us how to worship him. At Grace we meet on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am for about an hour and fifteen minutes of singing songs and hymns, praying together, and hearing the Bible read and taught.

About 35-45 minutes of that service involves a preacher explaining a particular text of the Bible and helping us apply it to our lives. The goal is for us to understand both the content and the intent of God’s word and then respond appropriately to it. Week by week we focus on a different passage of Scripture, moving through the Bible book by book so that the church learns “the whole counsel of God.”

As we worship together on Sunday mornings, our desire to worship God personally throughout the week is renewed and nurtured, with the hope that every follower of Christ will engage with him through prayer and reading his word on a daily basis.

Worship with us this Sunday at 10:00 am.
