Meet the Smiths
Colin and Melissa Smith are fairly new to the greater Greenville area. They moved to Reidville from Iowa in 2021 with their two children, Charlotte, 11, and Harrison, 10.
Both of their children attend school in downtown Greenville. Charlotte is active in gymnastics and Harrison gets out his energy by playing soccer. Colin has worked in the financial services industry for 15 years and is currently the Head of Financial Crimes Data & Analytics for a large bank. He also enjoys golfing in his free time. Melissa has had a variety of “careers” since the couple was married 13 years ago, but currently teaches yoga and fitness classes.
Kids don't come with instruction manuals, and raising them to make wise choices could sometimes feel overwhelming. And then came the questions: “What does God look like? Why can't we see him? Why does God let bad things happen? What is heaven like? Is it fun? Will I go there someday?"
Real, honest, precious questions. And questions that weren't always easy to answer. Colin and Melissa knew they needed help. They needed a community to come alongside them to raise healthy kids in an unhealthy culture.
They began attending Grace Bible Church in July 2021, and have loved every minute of it. “The people are so friendly,” Colin said. “In less than six months, we have been invited over to five different households for dinner.” Melissa added, “We’ve never felt so at home with a church body. We truly appreciate our Sundays at Grace – the community, the fellowship, the worship, the children’s ministries, and the learning. We hope you will come experience it with us.”
