June 1 — A Second Chance (Genesis 8:1-9:17)

The water has receded and the ark comes to rest on dry ground. It’s a new day and a second chance for life on earth. God restates the mandate and prepares his people for the reality of sin and death. Yet his grace will hold back his judgment for a time, and the rainbow will remind everyone that the waters of judgment were real and yet temporary. The true judgment for sin awaits, and a true and permanent ark of rescue is coming. Until then, God’s grace reigns — even over the rain!
