July 20 — The Sin of Sodom (Genesis 19)

When two angels, appearing as men, visited Lot in Sodom, the men of the city sought to sexually assault them. Lot tried to save these men/angels by offering up his daughters instead. Many biblical interpreters as of late have tried to contend that Sodom's sin and later destruction had nothing to do with homosexual activity. This sermon will consider what the sin of Sodom really was and why God destroyed the city with fire. It will also point towards God's end-times judgment when he saves his own but judges his enemies.
